Music Therapy Groups

Making Waves Music Therapy provides group therapy services within your desired setting or location. In these settings music therapy is utilized to fit the collective needs of the group and provide opportunities for group members to work together and share space within the inviting medium of music and structure provided by the music therapist.

 
 
 
 
 

Memory Care Groups

Music therapy groups that occur in assisted living facilities within the memory care unit to facilitate positive social interaction, reminiscence, movement, and agitation reduction for residents.


Public & Private School settings

Music therapy groups within classroom settings within private and public schools, Montessori schools, vocational schools, and Title 1 schools to aid in acheiving academic goals per students IEPs, foster positive social engagement, encourage positive behaviors, and provide sensory integration.


Trauma & Recovery Support Groups

Music therapy addresses the need for feeling safe and building trust all while validating survivors experiences, providing opportunities for emotional expression, and healing through trauma-informed care. Music therapy can provide valuable coping skills by not only holding space for survivors but also through experiences and interventions that transfer out into



Individual Music Therapy

Music therapy in a 1:1 setting. All music used is client preferred and the therapist creates a highly individualized session plan where progress is evaluated over a set amount of time. For all individual sessions the music therapist travels to the clients home or facility and provides all instruments and materials needed.

Music therapy in your setting, on your time

For all individual sessions the music therapist travels to the clients home or facility and provides all instruments and materials needed. We know life gets hectic and busy so we provide the following session lengths so you can choose what works best on your time:


20 minutes — $30
30 minutes — $50
40 minutes — $70
50 minutes — $90
60 minutes — $100
70 minutes — $115
80 minutes — $130
90 minutes — $150

* If you have funding through MTM (Wellcare/Staywell), sessions must be at least 60 minutes in length and rates may differ with longer sessions.

Virtual

Both individual and group music offered virtually through video sessions via Zoom. All that you need is an email to join a virtual music therapy.

How does Virtual Music Therapy work?

Both individual and group sessions are offered via telehealth. Each participant will be sent the Zoom link to their emails prior to their session time. Any device may be used but laptops/desktop computers are recommended for best quality. To ensure clear sound quality the music therapist uses:

  • A condenser mic

  • Headphones if needed

  • Computer audio when screen sharing

  • Live monitoring

Virtual sessions are conducted in a sequestered space to protect and honor client privacy. If clients are already being seen in person they can be seen virtually upon request if music therapist is notified in advance. Virtual sessions are offered at a discounted rate for both individual sessions and group sessions.

If you live in the state of Nevada, you are eligible to receive virtual music therapy sessions through private pay.

Music Lessons

Making Waves Music Therapy also offers music lessons. When taught by music therapists and professional music instructors at Making Waves Music Therapy, music lessons are adapted to the students unique learning style and adjustments are made to fit their needs. We provide lessons in home or your preferred setting at the simple rate of $1/minute plus travel fees.
